Reflection is so important to quality life.
How many times do I need to remind myself to savor?

James 1:27
In my 'General Epistles and Revelation' class we just finished up with the book of Hebrews (too quickly, but our time is pretty limited). As a result, we are just getting into the book of James. This evening gave me a special point of reflection in verse 27:
"religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:
to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
and I realized that we need to be close to (orphans and widows) (the hurting and disadvantaged) to know of their distress
and so act in love rather than on principle.
I don't think there is anything wrong about doing good to do good, but I want my heart to be in it. I want to do good because I love good, and even more, the people that could use some of that good in their lives. The way is looking a little clearer, now.

with the exception of dendrophobes I think there is some innate part of all of us that cherishes trees
